Being Organized? It’s Easy If You Do it Smart
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed as a student but with a little planning and good habits, you can lower your stress and in turn be more productive.
Stay on top of all you need to accomplish with these five organizational tips.
Create a Routine
Consistency is key! Decide on a set time to study and work on assignments. Choose some regular work areas, doing the same thing at the same time and place will help your body get into a routine and recognize when it’s time to focus and work. Try and plan out other aspects of your day too, like when you will work out or run errands.
We know it’s not practical to assume that you will follow your routine all the time but it helps to have a basis, that way if you fall off your routine it’ll be easier to get back on track.
Use a Planner
Great news you have a planner in your smartphone, who knew that thing was for more than just social media 😉
Use your calendar to record important dates, such as tests, assignments, meetings, study times, and anything else you need to remember.
Set a reminder to go off in increments leading up to the activity date. Make a habit out of reviewing your calendar once a week to ensure you don’t overlook anything.
Focus on One Task at a Time
When you sit done to study or work on assignments, dedicate the whole time to one subject. Take a piece of paper and write down exactly what you need to accomplish. This will help you stay on track. Once you complete everything you need to for that subject, take a break and then move onto the next one.
Learn to Say NO
It’s impossible to do everything and to be apart of everything. For the sake of your sanity don’t over do it. If you’re starting to feel overwhelmed this is a sign from your body that you need to slow down and refocus yourself.
Prep For The Next Day
Save yourself some time and stress by preparing all you can ahead of time. If you bring a lunch, make it in the evening. Also, layout your clothes and pack your backpack. These little things you can do the night before will minimize what you have to do in the morning. You’ll feel less rushed and more prepared.
Once you have a set routine and pattern staying organized will just become apart of your habits and will feel easy to accomplish.
