Being a PSW is rewarding work; you assist clients with their daily activities, there is job security; as the Canadian population ages the need for Personal Support Workers continues to grow, and it provides you with flexibility; you can work in many different settings.

What is a PSW

A PSW or a Personal Support Worker are an important part of the health care team. A PSW assists clients with their various needs, they aid in routine daily living activities, they assist with mobility, clients personal care and hygiene, management of household activities such as; grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning etc. and they assist their clients with their medication. A PSW helps their clients by improving their daily lives and providing them with the help they need, while leaving them feeling some independence.

All About the PSW Course

Here at City College the Personal Support Worker Diploma Program is an intensive 35-week program. It is approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005, and meets all operational standards of the National Association of Career Colleges, (NACC). Students will learn through instructor-led training, as well as, a clinical work placement. Both are designed to fully prepare students for a career in health care. Students will participate in courses such as; PSW Foundations, Body Systems, Assisting with Medications, and many more. After Graduation
